True wellness is more than just having your basic physical needs met. It’s a daily experience of thriving in the body, mind, and spirit. Our holistic approach to senior wellness at Sholom empowers residents to live life to the fullest, with joy, purpose, and connection. We call it Chai Wellness, in honor of the Jewish tradition of embracing chai, the Hebrew word for life.
Chai Wellness is more than just an ideal for us. It’s built into the loving, inclusive care we deliver every single day. L.I.F.E. at Sholom includes Leisure and Engagement, Individualized Care, Family and Community, and Emotional and Cognitive Wellbeing.

A Holistic Approach to Senior Wellness: The Four Dimensions of Living L.I.F.E. Fully
At Sholom, we believe caring for the whole person rather than only focusing on basic physical needs is the foundation of a fuller, healthier life. We want Sholom to be more than just a roof over your head. We want it to be a place where you experience an abundant life. Our four dimensions of wellness are here to support you at every level.
Leisure and Engagement
Our recreational and cultural activities allow you to maintain an active lifestyle, meet other residents, learn new skills, and bond with others. And there is something for everyone:
- Senior exercise class for all fitness levels
- Aquatic therapy
- Art classes
- Outings to parks and museums
- Activities that celebrate Jewish culture
- Inclusive holiday celebrations
- Interfaith events
- Gardening clubs
- Creative writing groups
- Theater performances
Individualized Care
You’ll never be just a number here. Our team members will build a care plan specially for you, and they will know your name. Our personalized care plans include daily support, holistic care, and expressive therapies. Here are just a few examples of what yours could include:
- Mobility support
- Dietary adjustments
- Outpatient rehabilitation
- Tai chi or chair yoga
- Music therapy
- Art therapy
- Guided meditation
We’ll update your care plan over time as needs change, so you can always count on the support you need.
Family and Community
Family and community are central to Jewish values and our way of life at Sholom. We love to see family members involved. When your loved one lives in one of our communities, we’re here to support you, too.
- Our meet-and-greet socials bring families and other community members together for lunch or coffee.
- If you’re a family caregiver, our support groups offer a safe place to talk to others experiencing a similar journey.
- Our volunteer program provides meaningful opportunities for family members to enrich the lives of the residents.
- Our Community Ambassador Program allows residents to find purpose through volunteerism.
We also provide meaningful social connections through our intergenerational programs. We partner with local schools and youth organizations to bring residents and young people together for reading clubs, crafts, and music sessions. And of course, our team and community of residents function as a small family for your loved one 24/7.
Emotional and Cognitive Wellbeing
We plan our daily activities around keeping the mind active and providing safe spaces for residents to process emotions. We offer therapeutic peer support group programs, such as grief support groups, based on the residents’ needs. Our memory-stimulating activities include:
- Reminiscence therapy
- Memory games
- Storytelling sessions
- Brain fitness programs
- Puzzles like Sudoku and crosswords
We use music therapy and uplifting movements, such as dance, to lift the spirit and support cognitive function.
Whether your loved one needs support for mild cognitive impairment or Memory Care, we offer mental, physical, and spiritual support in an uplifting environment. And if they already live in one of our communities and their needs change, we can transition them to Memory Care and provide the same compassionate support with Chai Wellness.
Why Chai Wellness Gives Families Peace of Mind
Your loved one’s lifestyle after transitioning to a senior community should be filled with fun, purpose, and love. For many families, one of the biggest concerns is knowing whether a care team will treat their loved one with kindness and respect.
At Sholom, senior wellness means a healthy lifestyle filled with love and joy. Your loved one will receive a personalized care plan and receive compassionate care from a loving team. We’ll adjust the care plan as needed and treat you and your loved one like family from day one.
