Join us at Knollwood Place Apartments for a special author talk with Marysue Moses, dementia educator, former memory care coordinator, and author of Looking Past Dementia: Learning from Those Who Live with It.

When someone receives a dementia diagnosis, conversations often focus on what may be lost. Moses invites us to consider a different question: What can we learn from the people who are actually living with dementia?

Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in dementia care — along with her own family’s journey — Moses offers a hopeful, person-centered perspective on understanding cognitive change. She’ll share how looking beyond symptoms and diagnoses can help family members, caregivers, and communities continue to recognize the personality, humor, emotions, relationships, and humanity that remain.

Moses also brings an unexpected background to her work: theater. Before entering dementia care, she trained in theater in London and worked with Minneapolis’s Illusion Theater. Today, those skills help shape her approach to communication, meaningful connection, and person-centered dementia care.

Her book, released in August by Emerald Lake Books, offers practical insight and a humanizing perspective for people living with dementia, family caregivers, and professionals who support them.

🎁 Special Offer: The first 10 registrants will receive a FREE copy of Looking Past Dementia: Learning from Those Who Live with It — one book per household. (must attend event to receive the book)

Come discover a different way of thinking about dementia — one that looks beyond a diagnosis and focuses on the person who is still very much present.
