Reaching our senior years is a milestone, and usually signals that it is time to start slowing down and enjoying everything that life has to offer. Unfortunately, it is also the time in life where things can start to go wrong, and health problems or other complications can begin to emerge.
Suffering from an illness or condition as we age can be devastating. However, the subsequent loss of independence and dignity can often be worse than the illness or injury itself. Individuals that were formally mobile and able to take care of themselves suddenly find they are not able to. At this stage, it is crucial to place yourself or your loved one in a facility that not only gives the level of care required, but also acts with empathy and strives to maintain a level of independence for the person in question.
Introducing the Sholom Highland area long term care facilities. We have over 100 years of experience in caring for our seniors and understanding the importance of quality of life, no matter the situation at hand.
The Shirley Chapman Sholom Home East facility is a brand-new complex offering everything from short-term rehabilitation, to long-term and end of life care. We have painstakingly created an environment that is welcoming, and has a friendly “neighborhood” appeal, as well as providing the essential care and services our residents require.
The 118-bed facility features eight “households” made up of clusters of rooms to create a home-like atmosphere. Each household has a warm, inviting kitchen and lounge/dining area for socializing and greeting visitors. The dedicated care team provides individualized personal care as well as health care.
Our Highland area long term care service includes the use of all facilities. On-campus, we have everything a resident could need to feel right at home. Each room features a private bathroom with a fully accessible shower. Residents can enjoy delicious meals and snacks that we provide. The outdoor rooftop patio provides a respite for fresh air and to take in the view. Our residents can frequent the beauty and barbershop, visit the deli and gift shop, and stop by the chapel and library.
We place emphasis on providing a community of residents who are free to socialize and find others who share common interests. The on-site adult day center and community rooms provide space for gatherings, and a safe place for our organized activities and events to be held. Recreational music and pet therapy are examples of what our calendar features for our residents. To maintain physical activity, our Vitality Center provides a place for exercise or physical therapy, and also features a warm-water therapy pool.
Shalom’s Highland area long term care services are open to people of all faiths and walks of life. We do not discriminate. For those who wish to practice their faith, we have an on-site chapel as well as an on-site rabbi, and we regularly have visiting clergymen for our resident’s convenience.
