A Hidden Chapter of Courage, Resilience, and Community

Join us for an evening of history, insight, and connection as we welcome Ka F. Wong, professor of Asian Studies at St. Olaf College, producer and director of the film Beyond the Barbed Wire: Japanese Americans in Minnesota during World War II.

Through personal interviews, archival treasures, and powerful stories, Professor Wong will share the little-known history of Japanese Americans who resettled in Minnesota after leaving WWII incarceration camps. Despite hostility and hardship, they forged new lives and built bonds of empathy with allies who stood beside them.

From college students and US Cadet Nurses to language school trainees and pioneering families, discover how these individuals transformed both wartime Minnesota and their own futures.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Book sales signed by author available after the event. Residents, families, and all guests welcome!
