Entering your senior years does not always mean a loss of independence. Many people of the elder generation are able to continue their daily activities and social engagements with ease. However, aging does mean that there is an increased risk of requiring medical attention or assistance.
At Sholom, we understand that independent living is a big deal as we grow older. We recognize how important it is for you to maintain your quality of life while providing a safety net just in case you need it. That is why we have carefully designed our independent living facility to accommodate everything you need to continue with your lifestyle, in a safe environment.
Our Knollwood Place apartments are situated on the twenty-seven acre Ackerberg Family Sholom West campus in the Twin Cities area. Featuring 153 beautiful one or two bedroom apartments, when you join us, you will be joining a thriving community of people while retaining your privacy and independence.
The apartment complex is situated close to all amenities, including shopping, banking, and numerous recreational activities, so you are never far from anything you need. There is plenty to enjoy outdoors too. The area boasts the stunning Lake L’Chaim, a perfect spot to take a morning or evening stroll. The complex also features a large outdoor patio complete with a gazebo that overlooks the lake.
If you need to reach other areas of the campus, they are all connected via indoor walkways, so no matter what the weather is doing outside, you can safely travel to where you need to go.
The monthly rent for your apartment does not just give you a place to live. It also includes a whole host of amenities and facilities designed to help you live your life with ease and comfort.
All your utilities (excluding electricity, cable television, private internet, and telephone) are included. Those who would like the internet, but do not want a private connection installed, can take advantage of the tenant computer center, which includes internet access. Laundry facilities and satellite TV are also included.
Enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet Monday through Friday and take advantage of the coffee and juice bar in the sun room while you catch up with friends.
A calendar packed full of activities such as excursions, concerts, or the theatre will keep you fully entertained, as well as outings that involve you in the wider community. A scheduled van transportation service is on hand should you need to go shopping, visit a medical facility, or head out on one of our recreational outings.
Most importantly, our Twin Cities area senior independent living apartments provide a 24-hour emergency response service, so if you need help, we can quickly provide it. You also gain access to a social worker for information and referrals.
The apartment complex includes so much more than just a place to live. On-site, you can take advantage of the beauty salon and barbershop, a convenience store and deli, plus the fitness center.
For those who wish to be social, there is a large parking area for visitors, a library with big screen TV, a games room, and community rooms for social gatherings and parties. The Sholom Home West Chapel is within easy reach for religious services.
Practical features of the building include available storage lockers, the computer center, and 24-hour emergency maintenance service.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Sholom staff for the care and compassion that was provided to our father/grandfather while he was at Sholom. We are truly appreciative to all the individuals who offered care, compassion, company, an extra smile or a tender touch to our father. We are truly appreciative to all who routinely addressed him with understanding and patience. Although our father has been gone for some time now, our memories and our gratitude remain strong. Thank you.
