Sholom, in cooperation with our community, supports adults in need across a wide continuum of care. We welcome everyone and offer a warm environment for those wishing to live out their remaining years. For over 100 years, Sholom has offered many adult services in the Crystal, St Louis Park, and St Paul areas. We also serve communities across the metro area.
Our services are designed for you or a loved one. One of the wellness programs we offer is respite care. If you are not familiar with respite care, it is temporary care provided to an adult with specific needs. It is done with the hopes that the individual will find a quicker path to recovery after an illness or surgery. It offers temporary relief to families who care for older adults.
According to AARP, there are 39.8 million family members who provided unpaid adult care in 2015. That number is even higher today. In their Caregiving in the U.S. report, AARP reports that over half of all caregivers noted a decline in their own health due to the added stress.
Caring for a senior loved one is a privilege and has many rewards. As time passes, however, that caregiving can become more of a burden as a family member declines physically or mentally. How do you keep it all together? With little breaks in between. With time for yourself and not worrying that your spouse or parent is not enjoying good care.
Caring for a loved one with a mild illness or helping them find their way back on their feet after surgery, generally has little long-term impact, if any. It is being responsible for a loved one with a severe illness or injury, someone who is newly come through major surgery, where caregivers need help. If you are feeling little support from family members or your own well-being is challenged, rest easy knowing your loved one and you will both benefit greatly from our Crystal area respite care services.
Respite care, or short-term care, is a program put in place to help anyone who needs additional time and assistance to feel normal again, following surgery or an injury or illness. There are many reasons you may need our Crystal area senior respite care:
During your stay at Sholom, you will enjoy many amenities. You truly are our guest, and there is much to do each day in order to not just rebuild your strength, but also to relax and take it all in as well. Some rehabilitation sometimes takes longer than others, based on your own situation, and we stand ready to assist you with our Crystal area respite care services.
All of Sholom’s comprehensive services are tailored to the individual, and choices are made based on your independence, preferences, and dignity. We never force anything on our clients as they seek to gain back their life as it was lived prior to an illness or injury. We strive to honor all who walk through our doors and respect them fully as individuals.
When you contact us for Crystal area senior respite care services, you will experience life at our facilities as one of our cherished guests. There is much to enjoy when you are here.
In addition, there are services to help you to rebuild not just your strength, but your life:
Caring for a family member is rewarding, and it may even lead to renewed bonds between you, but over time, feelings of stress, loss, and physical strain can begin to appear. As a caregiver, you do not want to risk your own life, you will need a break now and then. There is nothing wrong with seeking help. While Adult Day Care is an excellent alternative you can look into, our Crystal area respite care provides a very convenient solution for families.
For over 100 years, Sholom has built our reputation for excellence in providing the highest quality elder care. We offer a continuum of care across a wide variety of senior services including skilled nursing care, hospice care, memory care, senior apartment homes, meals on wheels, adult day care services and of course, our Crystal area respite care for the elderly.
Do not wait until you cannot go another step. Caregivers deserve a break too. We understand the needs of our older adults and we are experts at providing emotional, physical, psychological, and social attention for everyone’s needs. Your family member will be a part of our family.
Our Sholom Respite Program is available in two locations, one in St Louis Park and the other in St Paul. To learn more about our specialized St Paul respite care for the elderly, contact Carrie Speidel at (651)328-2258.
