In a previous blog, we discussed various activities seniors could participate in during the summer. One of those activities was going to a fair (city, county, state, etc.) and as you are probably aware, we have one of the best (if not THE best) fairs in the country. Since the Great Minnesota Get Together is right around the corner, we thought we’d give you all the possible discount days that seniors can participate in. The top one obviously being the State Fair Senior Day, but there are plenty of other days that offer discounts for seniors and also have offers for other members of the family as well.

Senior Day

Senior Day at the fair is on Thursday, August 29th this year. It will include a discounted admission price at the gate for seniors ($10 instead of $13), early-bird specials on Midway (and Kidway) rides and games, and deals on merchandise and food for everyone. Dan Patch Park will feature the UCare Stretch & Stroll, plus live music and health & wellness programming onstage.

Other Discount Days for Seniors

Besides Senior Day, there are several other days the State Fair offers discounts for seniors:

Thrifty Thursday

Thrifty Thursday will be held on August 22nd, which is the first day of the fair. There will be deals on merchandise and food for all fair guests; plus, all-day specials offered on Mighty Midway (and Kidway) rides and games. Discount admission prices will be available at the gate for adults, seniors, and kids.

Seniors and Kids Day

This year’s Seniors and Kids Day will be held on Monday, August 26th. Discount admission prices will be available at the gate for seniors and kids. This day will also include deals on merchandise and food for all fair guests; plus, all-day specials on Mighty Midway (and Kidway) rides and games.

Military Appreciation Day

Military Appreciation Day is on Tuesday, August 27th. On this day the fair is offering discount admission prices at the gate for active military, their spouses and kids; retired military and their spouses; and military veterans and their spouses. To receive discounted admission on this day, attendees will need to show valid documentation of their service. The day will also include deals on merchandise and food for all fair guests; plus, early-bird specials on Mighty Midway (and Kidway) rides and games.

Read & Ride Day

Read & Ride Day will take place on Wednesday, August 28th. On this day, discount admission prices are available at the gate for public library cardholders. Library card must be valid and only one discount ticket is allowed per library card. Read & Ride Day will also include all-day specials offered on Mighty Midway (and Kidway) rides and games.
