Sholom Volunteers play a vital role in delivering services and programs that improve and enhance the lives of residents and tenants.
Our Volunteers give their time freely with no expectation of monetary reward. The shared goal of maintaining a sense of community ensures that many activities are accomplished and many people are helped.
Please consider giving the gift of your time. When you leave one of our venues after volunteering, you will have a very special warm feeling in your heart and you will know that your presence has made a difference. Opportunities to volunteer include:
Visiting with residents
- Escorting residents to activities and programs
- Assisting with Bingo and other games
- Helping serve at holiday or other special dinners
- Accompanying a resident along with staff on an outing
- Assisting at birthday parties, happy hours or music
Giving manicures and hand massages
- Gift Shop and Deli servers/helpers
- Suggest your own idea!
- Opportunities to serve at both Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses

The goal of the hospice volunteer is to assist the interdisciplinary team in proving comprehensive compassionate comfort care to Johnson Hospice Care Agency patients and families. Volunteer positions are split into three categories:
Companion Care Volunteers provide visits with our patients and their families by being present, reading, playing cards, listening to their favorite music, and help provide physical, emotional and spiritual support.
11th Hour Volunteer requiring additional training to be available for end of life and the final moments of life with help for their families with respite during this time.
Pet Therapy volunteers which requires a pet therapy training certification through an authorized organization. Pet Therapy provides companionship by visiting with a Pet Therapy Dog. Patients may miss their own pets while they are in our hospice program.
