February Volunteer Recognition
Katie Hartmann - Shaller Family Sholom East Campus
Birthplace, Hometown- Anything else you would like to share. I am from Mendota Heights
Where do you or did you attend school? I attended and graduated from the Ancker Hospital School of Nursing and St. Catherine’s University both in Saint Paul.
What areas are you or did you study? I studied both Nursing and business.
What made you choose Sholom for your volunteer experience? I worked as a PHN with a social worker from JCC and worked with the Jewish population. Also, I had a friend working here at the time I started.
Where do you and your family now live? My husband and our 3 dogs live in Mendota Heights.
What types of activities do you like to do? I have worked as an RN and have trained and showed dogs in Confirmation, Obedience, Rally, Agility and Nose work. My dog and I qualified for a TDI pet therapy team, so I have combined my love of health care and dogs for volunteer work.
When I first started at Sholom I would assist the activities person in the Adult Day program with outings. If I went along at that time, the RN could remain on-site. Now I mostly visit residents with my dog.
Are you involved in any types of community/civic organizations? I am involved with the Twin Cities Vizxla Club, Vizsla Club of America, St. Paul Dog Training Club, TDI International, Anker Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association through the Regions Foundation.
Please tell us anything else about yourself that you would like others to know. I love gardening, flowers, going to the lake in the summer months, and have fished and water skied for years! Also, I have a lot of love for music.
